NuSkoolBreaks.co.uk was started in 2000 to bring together fans of breaks - an eclectic music genre which mixes together all the best elements of underground dance and produces something fresh. The name "Nu Skool Breaks" was first used by Rennie Pilgrem on 2 EPs in 1998, and quickly became the collective term used to describe music in its style, although over the years its been shortened to just "breaks".
Since then the scene has grown exponentially - from backrooms to main rooms and into festivals - on a global scale. Sub-genres and off-shoots have been created, but they all still come under the genre of breaks - and this is the place to hear and talk about all of them.
We are now the largest space for breaks on the Web - our community is second to none, with friendships, businesses, partnerships, labels, artist collaborations and more all being formed through this website. Why not get involved in our community right away by signing up to the forum and introducing yourself? Or just have a browse!

| Announcement: Breaks and Breach in Ibiza |

Looking for a breaks party with a difference next week? How about a trip to Ibiza? The white isle isn't exactly known for its breakbeat-friendly vibe, but the forthcoming Beachbombing party is aiming to change all that.
Organised by the people who brought you the infamous Snowbombing parties near the slopes of Mayrhofen in Austria, this looks like a brilliant way to extend the summer.
Krafty Kuts, the Freestylers and Fingerlickin's Soul of Man are all on the line-up for the event, which takes place at Ibiza's infamous Ibiza Rocks hotel between September 17 and 21.
We spoke to Krafty Kuts recently for an exclusive forthcoming nuskoolbreaks.co.uk interview, and here's what he had to say:
"Snowbombing is just an awesome thing to do," said Krafty. "It's something that all the boarders and skiiers are into. I think this party in Ibiza is going to be really exciting. The island is known as a house place but it's not anti-breaks, and this venue is astonishing."

| Announcement: DJ Mag Top 100 Voting Starts August 1st |

It’s time to gear up for the biggest and most influential poll in dance music — DJmag’s Top 100 DJs 2008. It’s shaping up to be the biggest year yet with this year’s poll powered by Trackitdown.net — which means a free download for everyone who votes!
And co-ordinated voting amongst DJmag’s sister magazines — now in print in Brazil, Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Mexico — could lead to some surprise results.
In a bid to create a level playing field, a votes canvassing kit will also be made available to every DJ. The DiY resource package — available from djmag.com from 25th July — includes personalised banners, logos and everything else DJs need to get started.
Voting in this year’s Top 100 DJs Poll begins on 1st August and ends 24th September.

Just received word from the Plumps that they are playing a small intimate gig for Amnesty International this coming Friday 13th June.
Alongside the Plump DJs, catch Jazzie B (soul II soul), Zero 7 (dj set), Loose Cannons and more, up at the Westbury in Kilburn.
Entrance is a mere £5, and all profits from the door and the bar (apparently) are going to chairty - so drink until you Headthrash (did you see what I did there? No. Oh)

| Announcement: Fabric Team launch Matter @ O2 Arena |

The people behind Fabric are behind a new club venue at The O2 (formerly Millennium Dome London), and it will open in September. Although "conceived" by Team Fabric, the new venue will have its own identity – it will be called Matter – and will also have more of a focus on live music than the central London venue. It will also differ from the existing venues in The O2 in that it will have its own riverside entry, rather than being entered into via the main O2 shopping mall.
The press release on the new venue says this: "It has been conceived by the team behind longstanding club Fabric London, but this venue is all about the live music experience as well, and will offer unprecedented flexibility coupled with unparalleled, cutting edge sound and vision designed to give guests an unforgettable experience whatever the style of the night being presented".
